About

ABOUT DR KAIRINOS

Dr Kairinos is a board certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon who completed his post graduate training at the University of Cape Town. Although general plastic and cosmetic surgery forms the bulk of his work, Dr Kairinos also has a keen interest in hand surgery and is a sessional consultant at the Dept of Hand Surgery, Groote Schuur Academic Hospital. Dr Kairinos is also a member of the multidisciplinary team of the prestigious Chrysalis Clinic in Claremont, where he has a special interest in post-bariatric plastic surgery (body-contouring surgery following massive weight loss).

Over and above his other degrees, Dr Kairinos has the privilege of being the only South African to have been awarded a PhD in Plastic Surgery from UCT. This was for his multi-award winning research in the field of negative-pressure wound therapy. He is regarded as a key opinion leader in the field of complex wounds and serves as a reviewer for five international peer-reviewed journals. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Wound Healing Southern Africa (WHSA) journal, the official journal of the Wound Healing Association of Southern Africa.

In addition to providing a high standard of clinical care, Dr Kairinos strives to do so with warmth and sincerity, treating patients as though they were family members. In his spare time, Dr Kairinos thoroughly enjoys socialising with friends and family. He loves the outdoors, particularly camping, fishing, mountain biking and hiking. Dr Kairinos' hobbies include progressive work on numerous medical and non-medical inventions, some of which have been patented. Dr Kairinos is happily married and has two children.
